startle

by Peter Humphreys

in the
gentle
evening
breeze
the scent
of coffee
and your hair
mingle
in my mind
as slowly
as we kiss
and lie
together
on the
grassy
bank
beside
the river

overhead
a crane
flies
west
the crows
gather in
evening
mass
from tree
to tree
swans and
cygnets
stream
by

your hand
slips from
mine

I startle

its so easy to get lost in the moment when you are there.. lost in your lover's presence.. any move becomes a jolt.. beautiful descriptions!!

Quite remarkable - I can feel the dream-like serenity of your mind and that moment's break in the continuity of it.

Love the wonderful and very vivid images. This piece is beautiful from start to finish.

wonderful! wonderful! wonderful!
I, too, love this series.
You are the sigh of a good-morning's kiss-with-words, Peter Humphreys! Your poetry mesmerizes!

To find such peace with your hand in the hand of your Beloved... this is so gentle.
