cradle

by Peter Humphreys

as sun slips down
and geese
V home
I cradle
you
I cradle
you alone

midst furze
and ling
on Nephin’s
cone
I cradle you
I cradle you
alone

by surging
stream and
granite dome
I
cradle you
I
cradle you alone

in gathering mist
and nascent fog
alone
I cradle
I cradle
you
alone

such a beautiful piece and the differing breaks in the line "i cradle you alone" speaks of the various aspects of your heart and the action itself.. such a beautiful lullabye

I love the repetition and simplicity of this. I discovered where Nephin's cone is, but would like to know what "furze and ling" are, please. :)

These poems that embrace love and County Mayo, capture my heart!

I think I took something very different from this than what you intended... but that's really the beauty of poetry, isn't it?
