love is not enough

by Vere Mantratriad

you told me once
you were afraid
I'd end up hating you

and I've tried
oh, how I've tried

but in the end
I just want you
to be okay

whether or not
it's ever with me

Author's Note: nine inch nails:
"the closer we think we are
well, it only got us so far
now you got anything left to show?
no, no I didn't think so
the sooner we realize
we cover ourselves with lies
but underneath we're not so tough
and love is not enough"

for r.

Hello Vere...this is my first visit to your library...in response, I like the direct nature of this piece, succinct and poignant at once...nice line breaks and quote in author notes...I look forward to reading more of your work, peace to u, *jewels*

that all-too familiar stage of reaching closure and acceptance and still loving enough to wish peace and well-being. Beautiful.

Maximum impact for just a few lines. Brutally honest, lucid...creating a strange kind of euphoria in its determination. Touché!

you know, when you love someone and they walk away, it can be impossible to hate them, even when we try! love, real love, embeds deep into our hearts

Don't know if you ever heard this song by Patti Smyth, 'Sometimes love just ain't enough.'Came out in '92. 14 yrs.later, I still cry when I hear it. I recognized the truth of it then. I still do. Anyone who doesn't is setting themselves up for a fall. Another work of yours so beautifully expressed.
