Tell Me Simply...

by Lacy D Phillips

Tell me simply...

That I inspire.
That I captivate.
That you love me.
That I am forgiven.
That I’m understood.
That I embody gratitude.
That my mind has value.
That my virtue is evident.
That I demonstrate loyalty.
That I'm capable of stillness.
That I am never without allies.
That I am accepted for who I am.
That I need not flee from affection.
That my innocence is yet preserved.
That I am never stingy with my smile.
That I am genuine and I have substance.
That I possess the wit I so covet in others.
That I matter, though I do not yet know I do.
That I traverse your most cherished memories.
That though I am gentle, I have acquired strength.
That my energies are invested in worthwhile causes.
That even made-over, my beauty could not be improved.
That time and time again I prove worthy of your attentions.

Well, appreciation is always appreciated. But what counts is our own ACTION, even if they are not acknowledged. We can befool the world but not our selves if we are self- aware. Yes, these are 'touch stones'to evaluate our evolution.

Beautiful work - a strong, sad commentary on the reality that though we feel these things, even know them, they aren't concrete in our hearts and minds until they're validated by someone else.

I love this piece, the slope of love it seems ...manicured like a pristine English garden...a pleasure to read, and am interested in Reid's version too, thanks for the heads-up...another fine addition to your library...all the best always, *jewels*
