Indisposed by Distraction by Lacy D PhillipsFor you, I would be charm embodied, grace and all your valued traits. For Ive tired of unremitting wait. I have found ever-renewing want, and am surprised by its sudden constancy. Where once nebulous flames were extinguished by expression, theyre now amplified by civil suppression. I am confounded by raging blazes which I'm compelled to conceal from your searching gaze.
Internal combustion
disrupts.
04/28/2006 Author's Note: I consciously attempted to refrain from rhyming desire with fire. It was just too easy and not at all expressive of the overall complexity I'm trying to document. It's so damned hard trying to get any work done when I have this damnable distraction!

Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 05/01/06 at 03:39 AM the constant want makes life worthwhile. i think this poem would lose so much if it were in rhyme...the free verse translates into honesty in my opinion. i love its heavy material. well written. |
Posted by Julie Adams on 05/01/06 at 05:50 PM what a great addition to your library...desire's power over us is, in a way, a battle we all face, and I thank you for sharing the complexity of yours...rhyme for rhyme's sake is not appealing to me, and I agree, sometimes it takes away from the subject at hand, so I like it as is, in a natural flow...nice to read you again...peace, *jewels* |
