lead me by Charlie Morgan go ahead of me geese,
remind the weather
that i'm an old warrior
with not much fight left.
listening to the fish swim
this morning, i cried.
a lonely, selfish cry.
i sent a mending wail to the trees.
as the leaves and wind
are drying my tears
and i gather-up
my dimly lit dreams of tomorrows,
the water's other side beckons
me to wander across
and spend my last days
and like rodin, i'm thinking about it.

Posted by Anne Engelen on 04/28/06 at 01:15 PM Sounds like you could use some excitement! No way you can make me believe that you're counting down the days already. Although, you got me worried for a sec. Good write!

Posted by Mary Ellen Smith on 04/29/06 at 11:40 PM I see this as a natural progression in ones thoughts and feelings about getting older..(not that we are there yet) lol...but we all walk along a path that is everchanging...and this is so eloquent in its approach to that.

Posted by Jim Benz on 05/03/06 at 05:55 PM this is a killer poem chaz, so to speak I guess, and rodin's thinker is the perfect image for it. I know this feeling all to well, but it's spring, and I'll let spring lead me, for awhile anyway, but even in so doing, I'll still think this is just a killer of a poem and beautifully done.
