Your Cigarette (Revised)

by Mae D Morey

I feel -
Just like
your cigarette.

Picked up,
lit
tasted
and then - inexplicably
set aside
and left to
smolder.

You like it,
but hardly notice
until I burn your fingertips.

Ouch. This is excellent! So much meaning and imagery in so few words. I love succinctness.

This poem is exactly how I feel right now. It has been on my favourite's list for a while and I think this is stunning.
