Mr. Dave Meets the Cat by Mary Ellen SmithNow, now Damn Cat my dearie you
Get that mouse out of my shoe.
Oh dear, oh dearÂ….IÂ’m running late
So long since IÂ’ve had a date!
My goodness! My heart is all a twitter!
You like this new lipstick with glitter?
Now promise me my kitty cat dear
That youÂ’ll behave when he gets here.
The bell! The bell! Remember, behave.
Be polite to my Mr. Dave.
Well Hello dearie, why come right in
And tell me sugar how have you been?
IÂ’ll just get my wrap and purse
While you and my Damn Cat converse.
WhatÂ’s that my dear? You wear two hats?
Oh I see dear, you donÂ’t like cats.
More of a dog person you say?
Ummm, forgive me dear. Is that a toupee?
Oh dear IÂ’m frightfully apologetic
Yes actually, he IS quite athletic.
He has a thing for toupees I fear
WhatÂ’s that honey? I didnÂ’t hear.
Well no worries I can get that back
Oh. If you donÂ’t care to go out, IÂ’ll make a snack.
You know dearie I like men with no hair
Yes, yes, hold on.. but donÂ’t sit there.
Well the cat you know, he has his spot
And well, he fights over that chair a lot.
Look see, heÂ’s brought you back your mane
DonÂ’t tug too hard youÂ’ll get a sprain!
Damn Cat, be good! Let go! Let go!
YouÂ’re gonna scare off my new beau!
Now let me see to that my dear
A little tape here and there. And here.
No, no it doesnÂ’t look a fright
Really dear you look all right.
Well then, IÂ’ll let you borrow my late HaroldÂ’s hat.
If you really feel like that.
Now sit and I will stitch up your coat
Well just leave then you old grumpy goat!
HummmphÂ…well that went well I think.
And IÂ’m sure he gave me a little wink.
HeÂ’ll call tomorrow or maybe the day after
Well heavens! I knew cats could meowÂ…but laughter? 04/21/2006 Author's Note: This is number 6 in the series about her Damn Cat.
