Remission by Danielle ErnstHe walks by no smile, no expression not a single blunt confession of how he's driving me away
Another day with no compassion or any willing interaction save a smile for manners sake
I peek again safe behind my inhibitions and a solid gray partion my cubicle fortress, deep and safe
He looks away Does he even know I miss him? that I'm regretting my decision, that halfway chance we chose to take
They're always watching in a predatory fashion they look to me to take some action despite the tension they create
We crossed that line and to avoid is now his mission at every cost, averts his vision hides the eyes that may betray the fact that he's pretending not to listen as the infatuated beating of the heart I'm holding, bleeding slowly fades it slowly dies a simple nod-he turns away- acknowledgement becomes the highlight of my day
