The Great Bionic Woman

by Joan Serratelli

I am the great bionic woman
controlled by a remote
It can make my body do
all sorts of things
a body should never do

ah....the miracles
of modern technolgy
but they've yet to figure out
how to make me normal
and this is all I want

I oft times feel like a puppet
with someone pulling the strings
doesn't anyone understand
that what I want is simple
I just want to be me
The me who drove
The me who cooked
the me who spoke
the me who lived
the me who looked up
to see the moon and stars
the me who did as I pleased

I am no longer that woman
I have wires in my brain
I set off alarms
wherever I go
and my condition remains
the same

Well worded reminder that maybe someday you can truly be bionic through nanotechnology, and fix that malfunction of yours.
