Sea kisses

by Rebecca Lin

Last night
we were cold,
but this morning
it felt like summer in my room.

I liked the beach in winter,
but I started to long for a change in season.
The water looked so beautiful and calm
that I just wanted to walk right in.
Of course, I'd be freezing
and wet,
but it felt that if I just did it,
I'd float in serenity.

The sand and shadows
were shades of silver and gold.
I wanted to capture the
sparkles of sunlight in the water.
Good thing I had a camera,
but I don't think I needed it.
I can still remember the scene.

It was funny when my friend
put her arms around me,
but I told her
how much in that moment
I wanted her to be him...

We threw our rocks
in the ocean
and wished them good luck.
She said
"Our kisses are in the sea."
It all just seemed
so lovely to me.
