Tapestry of our time

by Maria Terezia Ferencz

Embroidery of us once resplendent
ignored became threadbare
small stitches all dependent
now snagged beyond repair

Before the knots that bound us
pulled too tight to bear
secrets we could not discuss
love's fabric flawed with fear

take time to stitch love tightly
pay attention to the snags
what once was worn so brightly
without care will fall to rags

Our fabric now unraveled
I am left with just the threads
backwards I have traveled
unstitching seams of heart and head

Crewel I begin again
reuse your threads and mine
in colors of what could have been
a tapestry of our time

This is a beautifully woven piece of work.
