A New Life

by Joan Serratelli

Today
is the last day
in this house

Tomorrow
I will lock the door
and never look back

I hate this house
and all the bad things
that happened here

Tomorrow
I will start a new life
free from the ghosts
that have continued to haunt

I will not miss this house,
not at all
I will miss only
the sound of the waves,
crashing against the shore
other than that nothing
will please me more
than to move

Tomorrow
I will start a new life
a better life
and I will never look back

Yes, as you've so eloquently put it, sometimes moving is the best therapy when wanting to bury the past, start over again.
