A Muse's Hold On Me

by Kristina Woodhill

A – muse me, please
Oh, Words that rhyme,
Let me feel your tune.
Tune me in to each line’s beat
Stir my Soul’s soft, silent sleep.
Raise me with my tap, tap Feet
Make my Heart’s drum “Boom”!

A – maze me, please
Oh, Words that leave
My mind’s dull thoughts behind.
Behind you on your twisting trail
Lead through nuance, mystery, and veil
Hidden meanings in dark tales,
Make racing Heart rates climb.

A – loud, please Read
All Words! Let Play!
Their magic be released.
Released to waves of sound and time
Forever there for ears to find
For tongues to tickle, mouths to mime
Make sad Hearts’ sorrows ceased.

I C U waiting there for me
On shelves in books - those A B C’s
That mix and blend and fire my mind
And tantalize with every rhyme.

A neat tribute to poetry and poets (by implication). Very expressive.

What a delightful and entertaining way to express the importance of the written word in poetry. Most eloquent and succinct, indeed.. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind sentiment. Sending you and yours best wishes for a wonderfully productive holiday season from this side of paradise...alisa..;-)

Love the word play in this -- especially the creative first word of each line, and the ABC's of it in the end. Hee hee --and you managed to make the I C U hilarious-- I would say that's a rare feat! The double meaning of this... intensive care unit -- is where I see you-- achieving pure genius! The capital letters are quite effective in universalizing and getting the Muse to listen, as well.
