Roses

by Delilah Coyne

Scarlet skin soaked soft with silken veins.
Layer upon layer of ruffled redness, dew laden.
Diamond shimmers on velvet petals.
Blooming blood, unfurling vermilion blossom.
A thousand tiny suns on each red petal,
reflecting in the droplets of early morning dew.
Delicate, tender, framed by menacing thorns.
Unrivaled beauty. Queen of flora.
