thorn tree

by Peter Humphreys

in Erris
there is
a place
a place
apart
a parting
place
beneath
a tree
beneath
the westerly
breeze
and the
ever changing
sky

there
one day
we met
we hid
we shared
we argued
we coupled
we parted
gone

there
we view
our futures
our foes
our fears
our friends
our odds
none

you sit
waiting
feeling
absorbing
crying
smiling

blossoms
float
gently
on your
hair

you rise

I fall

asleep

alone

no more

Peter, your thorn tree seens a gentle place, even hallowed ground. A place to be revisited, ancient, but relative. What I really love is how you communicate what happens there, I feel brought along to see the myriad petals of the thorn in May. Excellent write and read.

Interesting combination of good and bad, light and darkness. One of my grandfathers (mother's side) was from Ireland. Not sure from where exactly, but his surname was Donnelly.
