Easter Surprise

by Maureen Glaude

I saw the Easter Elephant, it’s true
baskets of eggs on her trunk —
she trudged (no hops) along her route
in soft earth, packing quite a plunk!

Ears flopping to the April breeze
she wore a Mona Lisa smile
but creaked a little at the knees
and sometimes stopped to sit a while

I saw the Easter Elephant, it’s true
herald of Spring and Mother Earth
so friends, I knew I must tell you
who else would see the worth?

Yes, I do see the worth, and hope that I too will soon spot the Easter Elephant. Whimsical and imaginative piece of work plays perfect accompanyment for the sunshine and melting snow outside.

This made me smile and long for Easter. The daffodils are heralding Spring here but they are not as much gentle fun as your elephant!

Excellent - a perfect example of how poetry can be used to entertain, I loved this - Jimmy
