Roundtable (revised 3-8-06)

by Glenn Currier

From our homes' misty dawn
we trek to Austin's hills
elevating stories
knitting knots
from veins of mind
yarn of heart
and threads of reason
parsed from the quilts
of our journeys.

We pitch our tents
and linger just long enough
for planting.

We find and make our places
formed by our present worlds,
troubled guests and fellow travelers,
pulling from our luggage
scarves and green leaves
harvested from the middle
of the embattled frontiers
of failed partnerships and payments
romances morphed into hate
and invasions of trees.

We find and make our places
cutting away our egos
raining ripened fruit
multiplying loaves for a meal
redolent with our voices
reaped from listenings
simmered in slowness
and moments of presence
in public conversation.

We find and make our places
this pool of wisdom and care
infiltrating our souls
weaving whole cloth
circling this roundtable.

A lot of intriguing symbolism. A lot of subjective interpretation on this one I dare say.
