Oppression: Falan Gong, China by Julie AdamsSystematic abuse writhes
under the heavy blanket
of communist crimes
but lack of action,
reaction,
anything
leaves limbs and things
of young and old alike
perpetually in danger
electric batons wield power
and need no warning labels
but the pictures detail,
beyond reproach
the horror, plenty
true stories, stifled
like the tears of a thousand girls
pain lurks, under the surface
of history
they wait,
the victims; the believers,
for us to catch up
and care
and react
and do
not sit back, dumbfounded
Say something!
Believe.

Posted by JD Clay on 03/07/06 at 04:57 AM No form of government can exist in the modern world without a power base to control the masses through ignorance. Unfortunately, the promotion of higher consciousness is bureaucracy's biggest threat. Since we're on the verge of the homo-luminus evolution (enlightened man), with more and more people seeking liberation through spiritual means, political regimes around the globe have taken both dictorial and desparate measures.
I am a QiGong devotee and since it is much less threatening and/or controversial, I think I'll stay with it. Either way, whether by merkaba or meditation, universal truth will rise to the challenge.
Your awareness and your stimulating poem is a great wake up call, Jewels, and every intuit will recognize it as fact.

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 03/08/06 at 12:44 PM I think that poets if they have any practical purpose is to do what you have done with your poem and that is bring to light the burden and the yoke that the powerless must bear of the power driven. And brought to light, we who are sensitive to such issues that concern the need for some semblance of fair play and for the world to behave in real humanist terms must respond in kind and say we as well are concerned that pain lurks under the surface of history and it is for poets to pull it out of its surface as though it were a tick for the world to witness, that it is no rumor but the sheerest of realities. |
Posted by Michelle Angelini on 03/22/06 at 05:43 AM Jewels, these words and the emotions behind them are shocking. I remember once a long time ago hearing about the abuse and torture of Falan Gong devotees, then it got filed in the back of my mind for many years. Thank you for reawakening this awareness. In the past, I have done Qi Gong, although I never kept up the practice. The gentle movements peace and serenity in me, as they relate to the beauty of nature. Like Jon, jadi, and Dan, I applaud your words and efforts.
