When I Move

by Joan Serratelli

When I move
from this house
I will not pack the ghosts
That have stayed here
to haunt me
and make me miserable

I will not be
sorry to leave
this house has
never been lucky
for me

No goodbyes
No tears
i will just walk
out of this house
with what's left
of my sanity
and never look back

Author's Note: I'm moving soon. As you can tell, I am not unhappy about the move!

Sometimes moving has to be really just moving on. I appreciate the down-to-earth honestly in this poem.

Well stated. I agree with the other comments, and have to add that a physical and thus mental move is sometimes necessary in making a fresh start.
