Topic: All News Is Bad News

by Joan Serratelli

All news is bad news
that's all
I have to say

When G-d closes
one door, it smacks
you in the face

The glass is never
half full
it's always half empty

I would take the bad
with the good
If there was any good to take

Life has dealt me
a terrible hand
that I am stuck here to play.

Joan, this is definitely a "Murphy's Law" type of poem. Actually, it made me cry because there is a whole world out there of "Murphy's Law" type of days, weeks, months, years and lifetimes for so many people.

Joan, what a unique little piece this is. 'When G-d closes one door, it smacks you in the face' made me laugh so hard that I may have a permanent stitch in my side, as for my cats, they are in the next room still chortling and yuking it up. Seriously though, when I'm at my lowest, the last thing I want to hear are inane platitudes. And everytime some well meaning person feels gracious enough to offer me one, it just makes me want to puke on their shoes, so I do know how it makes you feel. But chin up Joan, one day people will respect our feeling and treat us accordingly. By the way, what do you thing of Platitudes as a new name for this wonderful little verse? Just a thought.
