CALL TO ARMS

by Charles E Minshall

There is one sound
most hasten to hear.
The sound of a loved ones,
"Welcome home dear."
For home they speed
in a high speed tear,
But the house is silent
not a soul is there.
In an easy chair
Their tired body slumps,
It is easy to see
they are down in the dumps.
Then the door opens
and a rainbow walks in,
They run to greet them
with an ear to ear grin,
And the same sweet sound
they hurried to hear,
I've missed you
welcome home dear.

It's nice to see the title words used to express something positive as opposed to the usual negative conotaton of loved ones going off to war, and some never to return.

I agree with Chris and Don both. It reminds me of when my older brothers came home during and after WWII. I was a teenager.
