Montauk, 1998 by Ken HarnischMassive waves broke white
Upon the rocks
I reached
To hold her hand
As we moved from Sound to Sea
Under the eye of the Lighthouse
And its keepers.
She seemed touched by that
While I was wondering
How a simple taking of the hand
Could have gone from being
Helpful
To a gesture of such
Grand magnanimity
How plain and sere
And sad
Sometimes
Are the novels of our lives. 02/02/2006 Posted on 02/02/2006 Copyright © 2024 Ken Harnisch
