the "c" word -

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

How do we define our final months, days, moments...

do we pretend that it doesn't exist??

the cells that are mutating and changing every moment.??

Do we embrace it and prepare to say good-bye

and write out our memoirs and paint our memories?

Do we give the disease power by letting it define us,

or do we fight it until the bitter end and deny its existance?

I don't believe it is fate, leave fate to the miracles that happen..

I believe it is one more chapter,  another leg in the journey..

The cancer is just a word to represent the biological changes ,

it is not you...you are not it... you are still dad.

Difficult questions, difficult journey. I loved your last line.

My Dad went that way... though changed, he was still Dad, thanks. I'm glad his was a very short last chapter.
