When I was a little girl I was often asked

"Shayla, what do you want to be when you grow up?"

My answer was always career based --
I want to be a teacher, a rockstar, a baker, a retail slave, a meteorologist, a writer
Or any of those fantasy jobs little girls often have

And as time goes by I realize that there are three things I want to be

Happy
Loved
and
Beautiful

it's strange how so much of the time we consider the essence of who we are to be merely the way we sell our labour. :) a very worthy POTD. i hope that, nearly fifteen years on, you are happy and loved (like Kristina said, you were already beautiful).

Loved this- especially the ending. I was NEVER career bound. I just wanted the things you mentioned- GREAT piece- Thanks!!
