I always think of you in the mornings.

by Melissa Arel

I always think of you in the mornings.

The way you lean over the sheets
and kiss me while I sleep.
I love how safe my name feels on your lips
When you tell me you love me.

And when I wake up from a night’s rest
I lay on your pillow before getting out of bed
Remembering your scent and your touch.
I wish you were next to me.

(A piece of you and a piece of me
Calls out from the next room.
I open the door and I see your smile
On our son’s face.)

This is going to be a good day.

"how safe my name feels on your lips." that's such a wonderful line. "safe" is never how i've thought of it, but i know exactly what you mean.

Very sweet. Remember to wash his pillow case every once in a while when the scent gets too strong. I like the part about a piece of you and a piece of me. Because that's how babies are made!
