making tea

by Emily Davidson

i miss standing in your kitchen

we'd be making tea;
it was summer but
you could drink it
any time of the year

we'd wait there
for the water to boil
(our bare feet on the kitchen tile)
and you'd wrap your arms around me
it was subtle but felt
exactly right

it was just your way of saying
you are my favorite person
to make tea with

god that's beautiful emily...i could picture the quiet, simple intimacy between the two of you perfectly...you do have a way with words dear

i was just about to write the same thing :) i was just going to say that you have an amazing talent to make such beautiful poetry with so few words.. its not superwordy or exaggerative, its simple yet powerful.. i don't know how you do it, but it works everytime :) wish i could do that too!
