When You Leave

by Joan Serratelli

When you leave
you never really go
The essence that is you
permeates the air
I search for you
but you're not here

When you leave
you never really go
Your aura stays
teasing me
I reach out for you
but you're not here

When you leave
you really never go
Your odor lingers
enticing me
I call for you
but you're not there

When you leave
you never really go
You just stay
inviting me
I look for you
You're everywhere

Nice write, Joan. I like your take on, "what remains". Cheers.

Joan, beautiful read. I always think about the simple odors, smiles shared, etc. when someone I truly care about lets themself out the door. Yes, they never really leave. :)
