If you only knew (Haiku)

by Robin Patterson

Trickle down my cheek
Blink! Was that a falling star?
It never happened

Author's Note: This is a painful reflection of what I tend to do to guard against being vulnerable. Yet, I know the truth. If I never let anyone truley see me, I might miss the opportunity to let them love me unconditionally.

Ahhhh, Robin, I understand so well. And in vulnerability there exists a tragic, hidden beauty that shines when we choose changing our self-image. Welcome to pathetic.

I think we all hide away parts of our soul to keep from pain. But to live we must risk, and risk can mean pain.
