Pangaea Revisited by Kristina WoodhillPangaea Revisited
I wonder,
Could we travel back
To Supercontinental times
and feel the plate techtonic ripping,
Earthly grinding, separating,
stretch marks scarring
far and wide
Perhaps weÂ’d see
Our Earthly Mother
Watch her Garden turn to rubble
Raucous rifts, stone-throwing squabbles,
Childish tiffs and made-up troubles,
Start to cut a Great Divide
“A time of
Healthy separation
(says She) some mighty mountain building,
Add canyon rivers grandly chisling
Let sulphur pots reflect the sizzling
Cauldron of
My childrenÂ’s pride
My oceaned tears
Will separate them
Let some peace and quiet calm me
Brother Sun a certain balm be
Let cloudÂ’s rains create the Palm tree
RebirthÂ’s symbol
At their side”
Her weary head
She raised and pondered
At her carbon creatures climbing
Crafted trees forever bridging
Like iron to all things magnetizing
Drawn to see
The other side
As eons pass
Her mighty mountains
Heaved and bouldered downward rolling
Crushed and pebbled waters roiling
Silky sands her beaches forming
Touching lands
Once out of sight
Slow forward now
She looks to see
Feet walk along the soft sand beaches
Across once seas each hand now reaches
OceanÂ’s tears no longer breeches
Pangaea whole
Where weÂ’ll reside
Our Earthly Mother smiles
