Velada (a re-post)with English translation

by Maureen Glaude

Alli en nuestra posada favorita

cuando los musicos empiezan a tocar

nuestra cancíon,

Yo espero no sentirte

triste o abatido.

Acuerdate de cuando estábamos con las manos enlazadas ...
nuestros juegos... nuestras risas

los bailes ...los secretos.

Sentíamos el amor en nuestros brazos y

eramos dos corazónes inseparables por

el fuego de nuestra pasión

siempre recordar cuando

la lluvia de la primavera

besaba nuestra ventanta y al

son de nuestra musica

nos acompañaba

en nuestros sueños

Nunca olvider aquellos momentos,

Back there in our favourite pub
when the musicians begin playing
the notes
of our song
I hope it will not make
you sad or lonely.

Just reminisce our hands, interlaced
our silly games and deep long laughs,
our breathy whispers
the dances and the secrets
the love shared in our arms.
Our two souls fused.

The spring rain
caressing the window
that last evening
while our song
played there for us.

Revisit our little moments
but with happiness
without tears or bitterness
grateful for the fortune of
our special memory in time.

When the musicians end
the notes of our song,
I hope that
it will not make you
sad or lonely

Author's Note: Velada means a special memorable moment in time. Where accents are missing in the Spanish, it's because of a technical problem keeping them on here from my original files.

The sadness of parted souls in this piece is far outweighed by the remarkable beauty and 'matter of factness' of its words/message, and contained in them, a continuing love.
