i keep having to
remind myself
that there is a reason
God has not given me
my heart's desires

if only i knew
that reason
perhaps this journey
would not be so long
and lonely

then i remind myself
of another journey
taken ~ it too
was long and lonely

the journey to the cross

and within this gentle reminder
the long seems short
the lonely bearable
the reason very clear

we all have our own cross to bear
and we are never alone
