The Red Roads Of Utah

by Jersey D Gibson

Roadway sweeping under me,
amber waves cascading to my sides.
Mountains distant with haze,
sun peaking out in the sky.

Craggy face of a rock monument,
showing the awesome force of nature.
Winding road skirts majestic beauty,
as red as the vistas it encounters.

Snow-peaked caps like icing on the cake,
sands and rocks littering the earth.
So far to travel from here to fro,
but so much to see.

Author's Note: The first time I traveled cross-country (I was like 7) I went through some part of Utah, where the highway was a reddish-copper color. It's one of the memories that has never left me.

Jersey, your strong memory shows in the rich detail. Nice!

Refreshingly different change of style and direction Jers'. And quite the visual piece thanks to your descriptiveness. Have a great weekend despite your location. :o)
