We Know - They Know

by Chris Sorrenti

I know - you know - we know - they all know
And they know - we know - you know - I know too

And if I told you now
I loved you so
What would you do?
Which way’d you go?
Would you laugh at me?
Send me away?
Put me down?
Think me insane?

Cause I know - you know - we know - they all know
And they know - we know - you know - I know too

And if we stood up now
Took a stand
What could they do?
What size demand?
Would it be so bad
True love to say
Leave us alone
And let us play
We’ve known the truth
Such a long long time
What’s the harm
We’ve done no crime

And so - tell me - what will - we two be?
What shall - we do - stay quiet - or run away?
Cause I know - you know - we know - they know too
And they know - we know - you love me - and I love you

Author's Note: The only song in which I wrote the lyrics after the music, in this case two sets of power chords assembled several years before, with a light melodic lead guitar playing in the background to the first verse and set of (slow) chords then repeated in the third and fifth verses. The second and fourth verses are sung to the second (faster) set of chords.

It should have been on the radio long ago, I thought so when I first read it and fell for this piece years ago. Not sure if it's revised or not, I don't think so? One of your sweetest among many. It shows the raw vulnerability of that state so well, I think that's what's so endearing about it. Kudos.

Well, Known is always known but still we all want to know what we know the other know we know. A lyrical meaningful wordplay.

A great musical deed, Chris. Infectious!

I can most certainly almost hear the tune, it really is good, I wish there was a sound byte accompanying the written version for us to hear. As for the content, well it is most definitely a great wordplay on the irony of knowledge when it's had by all. Yes, and still we all feel we must say or not say what we know the other knows too hahaha Nice song Chris :-)

I think the reason I like this so much is because it touches that place deep inside that was once so full of yearning and ache... Beautiful Chris
