Your White Mane, White Spray, Reborn

by Curt Allday

your stride is flowing through
the struggling fog trying
to discern
at a snail pace
your motions while
trying to learn your craft
your mane
stretches into the mouths of the beholden
beholden to your flaming white mist and spray
showering the shores with
shells, soot, mistakes, grievances
bodies eaten inside out
by your unrelenting cycle
gripping the sand
bending it to your will
each muscle carefully aligned
each look a mystic legend
crawling into the minds of the unfaithful
to the lord above
with the moon simply a spectacle
dominating the heavens but
remembering the titans in their ancient glory
where only the sacrifice lies
as its eyes
pierce the heart
as its memory
blankets the soul
smothering this insignificant city
as your waves smolder
and diminish life never lasting
life always ending
life a word so devout and mistaken
we believe it is a heaven
a vessel
an image of God
thats never seen except
on the shores of Ocean Beach
wandering in the afternoon
searching for meaning
and longing for your frigid waves
to carry me off and
hold me forever
in your bosom

shivering
reborn

This makes me think of the movie The Last Unicorn, how the king forced all of the unicorns into the sea. Their manes mixed in with the white sea foam, blending and melding perhaps into a new sort of sea creature.
