i carry the frost

by Stephanie Kent

the path
is strewn
with leaves,

and I
crush them
beneath
my feet.

autumn
lingers in
the air,

but
I have
Winter
in my eyes.

The last two stanzas are excellent. Not just coz of the content of the stanzas but the way it harmonises with the opening two stanzas to form a complete and wonderful poem in 4 small stanzas that has a lot of inner layers. This is more like the poet in you that I know hehe.

This is beautiful writing. No spare parts. I've read it several times aloud and it rings and lingers in my ears.

...stephanie, this is heavy in it's pall of laconia...fall is in the air but Winter is in your eyes...not to get toooo existential, but winter in moooost instances has a cold, no-growth, sunless, dying kind-of-feelingness to it[tho i know some people juuuuust love the cold]i'm tawin' generalizations...soo, me in my world, tho i say it has yada, yada, that doesn't mean that it is not a tremendously great poem, speaking to us and our complexities...lovely, peace, chaz
