borrowed treasures

by Charlie Morgan

eulogies are but words
and our words but wind.
so we bristle the trees
blowing a loving kiss, for Harve
a goodbye to this world.

his glistening eyes shone a Christ's love
as he happily, lovingly trod
this earthly realm.
as a son, husband, father, uncle,
none could be better.

oh, faithful child of God, you wavered not
from carrying your love in daily smiles,
and gave them freely to needy souls.
never once judging by earthly merits
your humble brother in need.

there is a rich eleusisian field
where the mystery of mankind
will be revealed, as we see
there are a hundred ways
to kiss the stars.

Harve, we're standing in your shadow
as you loom large in our heart
blanketed by your character
which is revealed by your true eumlation
of Christ's love and devotion.

as Christ lives still, so does Harve.

Author's Note: ...in dedication to Harve, me father-in-law...my father-in-love as he was so much the good man. words make trite anything that is in my heart and soul. without ever mentioning Jesus--he was all about Love...

Great tribute Charlie, it can be hard to remember such treasure must be returned. Your're keeping some of Harve in your heart, it's right there on the page, in you. This time, peace to you.

There is nothing trite in this loving tribute to your father in law...which just reveals how much more love and admiration you must feel than you can even write or speak of. He is joyful in the Lord's embrace and how sweet and wonderful for you and your family to know that without a doubt.

Wonderful tribute Chaz. I think we can all easily relate to this piece having our own version of Harve. Congrats on hitting No. 1. Well deserved!
