ever-seeking

by Charlie Morgan

seeking what can't be had
is our daily dilemma;
one that can make
a not-very-bad man
do bad things.

the wheels turn and grind
on the deeds of boy scouts
as the boys become men
seeing the path laid-out
by elder bad-doers.

ah, that's the way to be;
like that, like them
that's where i'll hang
my thoughts, hopes and dreams
and reap the rewards.

and like the tortured daniards
who daily empty an ocean
with a sieve,
we try, and try
but our ways are for nought.

Daily dilemmas ... oh such harsh things to bear or perhaps bare? A fine piece of work here, Charlie.
