love wars

by Keith D Allison

Forever hold this war of years
The rolling of drums
Some have victories won
Others lay in the mud, blood and tears

I stand upon the battlefield
Watching the rising sun
My comrades gone
With indifference the blood drips

The gray fog drifts across the valley
The emptiness held
I have forgotten why I came
Was it the grief or the pain

Maybe it was a taste of burning flesh
Or the passion of lies
But the scent of perfume is death
And the glory of gold is not mine

Oh love sweet love
Two hand and hand
I salute, you who try
But I do resign

Powerful expression Keith. One of your best in my opinion. Wish I had written this...glad you did.
