Half Moon(latest revision)

by Maureen Glaude

I felt sorry for the moon last night.
Her lover half was missing,
her bright yellow sharply sliced,
left cold
stark pale beside the nebula.

In her craters I saw tears, longed
to reassure her that later in her cycle
she would become whole again.

Author's Note: Though published already in an Ontario Poetry Society anthology, years ago, this long-ago written poem of mine is still finding new angles. Last night the moon looked like the one in this poem, and as I'd just received a few new critique ideas on it, thought I'd share the latest version. I have enough moon poems for a chapbook m.s. now.

As you know, a sky watcher from my earliest days, very nice to read this again. Thanks for reposting it.

A refreshing look at that very favorite subject of so many.
