Amelia: pick up dont please do. by Andrew S Adamsthere is a profound emptiness inside
the disconnected phone i've been dialing
your number from; every time i call,
it's always a prerecorded voice of silence
and i don't ever plug it in (not
because i don't love your voice
it sings the sweetest melody i could
hear,) because these conversations to
the quiet are private thoughts that
i only feel comfortable sharing
with no one listening in
but i dial
you, just in case i should
happen to make a connection
and you upon the other end,
imitate the ears of silence
(and every time i place the reciever
back to the cradle, defeated by
my own design)
because
i want you to know
everything
i want no one to know. 09/21/2005 Author's Note: i dunno.
