Welcoming Winter

by Ronald A Pavellas

I welcome the approach of Winter

The first bite of cool air after the lazy Summer
Awakens me, again, to reality

The lake is slate gray
Under a sky of lighter shade

The surface ripples are small and hurried
As if seeking shelter from the inevitable ice

Now, no shouting, jumping children
On this floating, wooden pier

Just an aging fellow feeling kinship
With Winter’s dark to come

Powerful expression here. Well done. Wish I had written this...glad you did!
