DISCONNECT THE RECOLLECT by Terry OlynikThe procession of years,
Accelerating
In their passing,
Serves mercifully
To diffuse her image.
A smile
Now retreating.
A laugh
Indistinct.
But the bones
Of those memories,
Even in half-life decline,
Will linger
Eternal -
A once-welcome guest
Who won't leave.
Decaying reminders
Of my banished warmth.

Posted by Ashok Sharda on 08/28/05 at 01:33 PM Well, how does one disconnect the recollect when it recollects mechanically? Yes, intentionally though the the 'bones
Of those memories,
Even in half-life decline,
Will linger
Eternal -'

Posted by Rula Shin on 08/30/05 at 09:18 PM Wow, very well written, concise and very poetic language and imagery relating the dilema we all face, our minds able only to veil our most intense memories in a surface cover with the aid of TIME. But it is only when we chase time that we cannot see our past for what it IS. Long Dead. High marks. |
