moonmystery (haiku)

by Glenn Currier

she is frowning tonight
tilting her head downward
as if in shame

her waxing face
covered with earthshadow
mysterious self

bracketed in clouds
emphasizing her beauty
her light suffuses

her translucent veil
teases and confounds me
I crave her fullness

...glenn, everything that michelle said!...for real...what a gracious way to describe something such as our moon, so personified, so lovely...peace, chaz

Yes, the moon is so linked with our earth, our being, probably depending on us for her very survival. But, then this dependence affects us physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is said that we are the food for moon.Moon is the child of the earth.

I love the way this envelopes the reader -- and I cannot explain exactly why, but I love the last line.

This speaks to me so tenderly of that give and take relationship this earth has with her moon, is it any wonder that we too have a relationship with her? "she is frowning tonight tilting her head downward as if in shame her waxing face covered with earthshadow...her translucent veil teases and confounds me I crave her fullness" - with an invisible reach she does seem to touch us, as Ashok said, affecting us in so many ways both physical and spiritual. This is a beautiful tribute to her irreplaceable presence, we personify her glowing caress as she walks hand in hand with the earth in simple being. I like this so much Glenn. High marks.
