Between My Toes... by Leslie Ann Eisenberg
The morning breeze blows
out the soot of my eyelashes,
I dress in pink silk and lambs wool
and walk barefoot on sunshine and sand,
I open my hand
and in your grasp, my mind
cant breathe
We lay
side by side,
watching each others thoughts,
mine are bunched up black rain drops,
yours are shreds of
ripped clouds I can see through
Your ears are tickled
by my radiant laughter,
I am a slave to your blazing eyes
our arms entwine for hours
and we eclipse the moon with our heat
But the light returns,
and I must go home
I carve the letters with a long
stick in the sand
The waves wash your name away,
but it is branded
on my heart

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 08/23/05 at 06:54 AM Congrats on POTD! Yes, the language of love with out saying the word - as it is written in nature's expressions. The heart is as open as the hand, and the mind to possibilities of where this unspoken journey can end or not. S1 is the invitation, while S2 & 3 show how intertwined thought and reality are for the dreamer. Since the scene is "...on sunshine and sand..." it reminds me of how as a kid I used to stand at the edge of the water, sinking my toes in the sand. As the tide went out, the sand sifted from between my toes, always to return. That's the feeling I get here - the love isn't going to fade away but return again and again - only to get stronger. Adding to this image is the pull of the moon, not only for the lovers but also for the tides shifting the sands.
