i ain't nothin' but tired

by Charlie Morgan

so much whizzin' by,
reasons unknown but
leaving a trail of evidence.

broken trikes, cars, broken lives,
homes, families.

following the day's progress
into night, chasin' rainbow tails
she doffs her hair, he, his combover.

"everybody for themselves!", etched
indeliblely into each moment's growth.

at sunset we shrug, for tomorrow lives
in our expectation, our hope of getting
what we want, yet we get what we need.

I just love that last stanza. All too often, unfortunately, I DO get what I want and it is exactly what I don't need. Your images are a whirlwind and I trip over them with pleasure.
