Freeze Frame Coffee Shop

by Christel Crews

Employees yelling
Drinks calling
Customers paying

too much for a

Candy-coated legal stimulant
Partners rushing
Some customers cursing

too many Frapps poured tonight

Author's Note: I wrote this down during a lull on my last night as a Starbucks employee over a year ago. I was unpacking today and found this piece of paper, so here you go!

Wow! and I was thinking of applying to Starbucks...on second thought... An honest view of what really goes on from behind the counter of America's most popular cafe. In Pasadena, CA we have no less than 8 of them - most within several blocks of each other. What appears like fun from the outside can be hell from the inside.

Excellent analogy for a cup of coffee: Candy-coated legal stimulant. I have no idea what Frapps is though. :o)

I HATE Starbucks but I loved the imagery in this piece. I could see the action as it unfolded. Nicely done!

Bwah! I'm a fan of the "candy-coated legal stimulant" whether it's from Starbucks or elsewhere. However I like to convince myself that I'm a social drinker so to speak. This still made me smile though.
