Her Black Robe Trailing

by Bradd Howard

Night comes in
like a lover hiding in the corners of your bedroom
her black robe trailing
leaving comet cobwebs in her wake
fingertips flashing/grasping
stealing the coolness from pillows and sheets
leaving you clutching at bedposts and dreaming of easier dreams.
for night like the best lover leaves us gasping and wishing for more
but knowing we usually can't handle it

Author's Note: clearing out my own cobwebs... but this didn't turn out too bad

Wow Bradd!! I love it. Very very well done. I love the image of night as a lover.

that last line is killer, as mommy says. i think she'd think the same if she'd stop crushing so hard. anyway, your language excites me, or at least peaks interest in my ears. you use lots of sounds and sounds may be what makes poetry. how fascinating. bye

This is a perfect sultry Southern night. Inevitable, that feeling of weakness right down to your bones when the heat is inescapable, yet hoping morning is not too close....

Wow! How did I ever miss this written piece of art! such imagery and metaphor. The added erotica only ices this slice of cake!!
