Going To The Seawall Alone

by Amy Wustrin

I was hoping for a sunset
And maybe some peace and quiet
But I'll settle for watching
The blanket of clouds
Turn from white-grey to black
And listening to the assinine squealing
Of some dopey high school girl
While her boyfriend threatens playfully
To toss her into the Hudson River

Secretly, I hope he does it
It's freezing at the seawall right now
And it would serve the stupid bitch right
For having more fun than me
