apple of your eye

by Kimberly Bare

i have been displaced

picked from my solitary branch
to be
tossed among the bushel

waiting for a gentle hand
to choose me
from many

take me to a sacred place
and cherish my sweetness

before tossing
my seeds to the wind
to let me take root
once more

ah, the "fruit" of lovely metaphor. I doubt you will be part of any bushel with sentiments like these, Kimberly

I really enjoyed the imagery of this piece. I think everyone can identify with this experience. I will be one of my favorites.
